Umande is currently supporting the Walk, Run, and Dance initiative, which enables youth in Kisumu, Nakuru, Nairobi, and Embu to work together and with local leaders to enact positive change in their communities. Youth organizations that are involved in art, music, theater, and indoor sports are being encouraged to work with their county government to create recreation spaces in their respective wards for community members to use. Umande is focusing on empowering young people to work together and realize their full creative, social, and economic potentials, and be agents of positive change in their local communities. Umande is working to create the necessary space and freedom for the youth group platforms to initiate action, as this initiative is primarily youth-driven. The youth groups’ city change efforts incorporate music, dance, drama, sports, peace, governance, economics, and urban greening efforts, and bring together youth and local authorities.
