Korogocho

Kisumu Ndogo

This bio centre was the first to open in the Korogocho settlement in 2007. Located in Kisumu Ndogo, it serves 60 people each day and earns around 12,000 shillings each month. The bio centre has toilets, bathrooms, and a hall for hire. 


Uwezo Mpya

Located in Grogon, this bio centre began operation in 2009. It serves 25 people each day and has monthly earnings of 55,000 shillings. The bio centre is home to toilets, bathrooms, and a hall for hire.


Ngunyumu

Opening in 2010, this bio centre is located in Gitadhuru. It has a large fluctuation in daily users but averages 3,000 shillings in monthly earnings. The bio centre has toilets and bathrooms and has helped saved many community members from illegal activities. 


Tegemeo

Also beginning operation in 2010, this bio centre can be found in Nyayo Village in Korogocho. The bio centre sees 200 users each day and has monthly earnings of 60,000 shillings. The bio centre has toilets, bathrooms, offices, a hall for hire, weekly garbage collection, and a water vending station. 


KHDO/IDVIK

This bio centre was founded by a group of visually impaired community members in hopes of changing the community. It was opened in 2011 in Githaduru Central Village and has 10 daily users. The monthly earnings can fluctuate from 3,000 to 11,000 shillings. The bio centre has toilets, bathrooms, an office, and two rental rooms.

KOCHOTO

This bio centre serves the nearby market by providing both water and sanitation services and was opened in 2011. There are approximately 200 daily users allowing the group to earn 50,000 shillings each month. It has toilets, bathrooms, a store, a barber shop, and a hall for hire. 


Inspiration

Located in Kitasuru-Korokori B, this bio centre opened its doors in 2012. Smaller than other centres, there are 7 daily users and the group earns 125 shillings each month. The bio centre has toilets, bathrooms, a hall for hire, and an office space. 


Highridge

Situated in Highridge, this bio centre began operations in 2012. This bio centre’s main goal is to attract more users, so toilet use is free to community members, in hopes of producing more biogas. Each day, there are about 65 users and the group earns 13,000 shillings each month. The bio centre has toilets, bathrooms, a biogas kitchen, 5 rooms for rent, and a hall for hire. 


Korogocho Youth Unity

Near Korogocho Market, this bio centre hopes to promote youth education and empowerment. The number of daily users changes constantly, but the group averages 3,000 shillings in monthly earnings. It has toilets and bathrooms.

Hoping to bridge the gap between different communities, this bio centre is located in Gitadhuru Village. The number of daily users changes constantly, but the group averages 3,000 shillings in monthly earnings. It has toilets, bathrooms, and a hall for hire.
